Status umělce - Status of the Artist
In 1980, at its 21st session, the General Conference of UNESCO
adopted the Recommendation concerning the Status of the
Artist which, taking
account of the changes that had come about in the artistic
professions and in the status of the different categories of
artists (authors, interpreters and performers), proposed an
overall description of artist's and outlined the conditions in
which artists can exist as creative persons.

Research in the various disciplines and geocultural
regions led to the organization in June 1997 of the World Congress on
the Status of the Artist
which issued, among other documents and conclusions, a final declaration and published a collection of articles
under the title Art and Society.
