Said about the Symposium:

Miroslav Adámek
A few nice days with nice people. I wish there were more such events.

Jaroslav Hovadík
I wondered who were the others and how they worked. Collation of the meeting, personal experience in historical surroundings.

Eliška Jakubíčková
I was looking forward to the nice and pleasant region of Valtice. Unlike at the Academy of Fine art from which I graduated a year ago I met there artists of various generations.
I could compare differrent approach to painting large format pictures during our common work at the horse riding hall. However I had some problems to concentrate myself on painting there.
I think most participants arrived with their own topic of what to paint. But my goal was to create the picture at the spot depending on my feeelings and mood. "Crucifixion“ was inspired more by my common reflection at that time.

Hans Jandl
Valtice – Large Format was indeed a very interesting meeting of international artists at an absolutely nice place. Some of the participating painters are still in touch with me as my friends. Working side by side, discussing, eating, drinking, having fun together can change the world.

Luboš Janota
My aim was to prove my skills and artistic abilities (without any special inspiration) in the course of several weeks of intensive concentration in the nice region of Valtice.

Jan Pospíšil
It was a fellowship of artists naturally tied with thein common goal at the symposium. Participants belong among those who pay permanent attention to hanging picture and confess that this kind of painting still plays an important role in fine art.

Ivo Sedláček
Symposium Large Format gave me an opportunity to paint a large scale picture on canvas, which is for me and others very difficult if not impossible to reach in our home studios. And moreover, I spent the time in a pleasant area of Valtice-Lednice region in a friendly atmosphere discussing art and life with other artists.
Another important aspect of the event is a collection of large scale paintings which is getting bigger and bigger (now it is formed by works of art from 5 annual meetings), and it covers broad range of contemporary art opinions. The collection is produced by means of minimal costs. I think that the collection should be held as a whole.

Memory of Valtice 1994 – beginning of summer. Sharp sunny weather changing with summer storms. Pine woods, large vineyards around, plane trees in the park of the baroque Valtice castle. I might be able to live in this God blessed country bellow Palava hills. I would like to come back again to paint here.

Jan Tichý
A very friendly atmosphere. Possibility to compare the work with others, to watch working process not only with Czech artists but foreign ones as well. Simply, it was nice.

Anna Vančátová
Excellent working and friendly atmosphere, possibility to experience the space constructions in large scale painting, summer, wine, comfort!
