Said about the Symposium:

Oskar Brůža, Secretary of Union of Symposium Large Format Valtice ranks among the most significant art events, which the artist community in our country managed to produce.
Devotedness and deep interests of the organizers gives it a chance to go on and cover a long period of time and a wide range of participants as well.
The collection of works of art will have a permanent significant impact both on public and art connoisseurs.

Václav Mílek, theorist
Growing size of painting formats in last decades has its own reasons and particularity. This trend which can be traced after seeing several exhibitions of contemporary art, is apparently linked with general inclination to abstraction and expression in painting. But I am not able to define it precisely.
The way the exhibitions are installed might be one of the resasons. Each piece of art is given its autonomous and sufficent space and when we take into account largeness of many new exhibition halls, it is clear that smaller size pieces fade away compared with the large ones. These few ideas of mine are a proof that there is strong need of expert discussion covering this topic. A conference and a catalogue might be a good dividing line between the last and next stage of Large Format Symposium and at the same time it could act as a take-off platform for future.

Jan Pospíšil
The symposium will go on and we are preparing the third cycle. We are looking for a suitable way of permanent presenting of the paintings.
We will be pleased if this information attracts artist, art theorists, public and those who are interested in fine art as well as those who could help us with material or money.
